A Spilsby man was more than double the alcohol limit when he drove into the back of a tractor and trailer.
Brian Greenfield, 39, of Hundleby Road, admitted driving with excess alcohol on the A16 Partney Road at Spilsby, when he appeared at Skegness Magistrates’ Court.
Nick Todd, prosecuting, said Greenfield gave a positive breath test at the scene and subsequently gave a reading of 87 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
Greenfield, who was not represented, told the magistrates that he had had a clean driving licence for many years and thought he had let himself and his family down.
He was disqualified from driving for 20 months but was offered the drink drivers’ rehabilitation scheme which would reduce his disqualification by five months. He was also fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 in costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
