Police say they have exhausted all their lines of inquiry into a reported assault on a woman who was visiting a grave in Spilsby.

Lincolnshire Police confirmed a report of an assault at Boston Road Cemetery had been fully investigated.

Last month, an appeal for witnesses was launched by the police after a 48-year-old woman claimed she had been assaulted while visiting a grave in the cemetery.

The victim at the time said she had been struck on the back of her head by an unseen assailant between 7.30pm and 10pm on February 8. The victim had claimed to be dazed and confused by the blow and unable to offer a more precise time but recalled seeing a number of youths or young people in the vicinity of the cemetery at the time.

The cemetery is owned by Spilsby Town Council.
