Police are warning people who use heating oil to remain extra vigilant, especially in rural areas, after a recent number of thefts.

Over the last week four incidents of theft in Brant Broughton and Bassingham have been reported to police. As the weather is turning cooler and people are having their tanks filled for colder temperatures officers have asked people to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity.

Anyone who thinks they may have seen or heard anything suspicious or out of place is asked to contact Lincolnshire Police on 101. Alternatively contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
