An amber weather warning has been issued for Lincolnshire after snow fell across the county overnight.

Motorists are being warned that snow and ice will affect travel with temperatures remaining around freezing point throughout the day.

More snow has been forecast in the early afternoon with up to 10cm predicted to have fallen by the evening.

On Tuesday further snow showers are expected with temperatures remaining low.

During Wednesday and Thursday light snow and sleet showers are forecast, clearing into the afternoon.

Temperatures will stay low throughout the week and into the weekend.

Major roads have been treated by Lincolnshire County Council gritting teams but motorists should anticipate longer journey times.

The thin layer of snow on roads may form icy stretches, particularly on untreated surfaces.
